ReplyDeleteThis video is very powerful in the way it effects how we feel. The middle school students put the feelings of someone else in front of there own and do a very powerful act of kindness towards a friend, no matter what his condition. The level of maturity these young students have exceeds that of many adults and because of this level of maturity the act has an even more powerful meaning.
ReplyDeleteTypically, boys at this age are immature and think its cool to make fun/bully boys who they view as less than themselves; however, this video proves that in reality, it is cool to be supportive and help people. These boys set an example for children all around the world while doing a good deed. The message they are sending and the good deed they engage in are both powerful because they are helping out a special needs child and sending an important anti-bullying message viral.
ReplyDeleteI feel that this short film changes out mind of the stereotypical image that society puts on football players. Most people think of football players as cocky and self centered; however, this video sheds a new light on our depiction of football players. This video shows that they can care about others as well as themselves.
ReplyDeleteAww! I think this video is so sweet! The video demonstrates the commendable aspects in society and when people come together, they can create powerful moments that will last. Not only did the middle school football team make Keith Orr feel "awesome" but also reassured his parents that "somebody will always have his back from now to the day he graduates", which is powerful to Keith's parents who aren't able to see his son constantly during the school day. With all the misfortunes we hear about in the news, it is uplifting to recognize the touching stories that are usually overlooked.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was so adorable and heart-warming! I never expected to see something so sweet from an entire middle school football team. That last boy's story really touched my heart because of his transformation from doing this for his fellow teammate.

ReplyDeleteThis video is powerful because it demonstrates the heartfelt message that these middle schoolers were trying to send. As opposed to being selfish, or making fun of their teammate, they encouraged him and allowed him to have the attention and success. The kids in the video learned a valuble lesson, and taught many others a lesson about the importance of helping, and sharing their glory with others. The football team's selflessness most probably inspired many other people to do something kind and think of others also. :)
ReplyDeleteThis video may have been one of the best videos I have ever seen in my life. The fact that they even considered to let the boy play was very heart warming. This video was very powerful because he demonstrates how kind and selfless people can be in the world. Also the fact that middle schoolers pulled this off really shows how kindness and compassion can start at an early stage in life. Keith is the new homie. :D
ReplyDeleteI think that this video is very powerful. I think that this video inspires many to think about others, and focus on others rather than themselves more often. This video really shows that even the littlest things can make the biggest difference to some people, and make not only their day, but change them and make them happy in so many different ways. Not only did this make Keith extremely happy, but it put a smile on his parents, teammates, coaches, the rest of his family, and so many other people's faces that got to watch this video. It was very heartwarming to watch this, and it definitely inspired me, as well as so many others.

This video is powerful because it motivated myself, as well as others to want to do good in the world by helping others and sometimes putting them before yourself.

These middle school boys worked together and successfully sent a very powerful message while making someone's day.The "play" not only moved some of the young players to think about the way they live their lives, but I'm sure it has done the same for anyone who was at the game or that has seen the video.
ReplyDeleteGenerally when I think of middle school boys, I think of them as obnoxious and self-cenerted. However, this video completely changed my view. It is amazing to see children at such a young age be so selfless because think, especially in middle school, many people become very self-obsorbed
ReplyDeleteI found this video to be extremely moving. It really goes to show that doing one simple thing can have such a strong and powerful effect on someones life. What these middle school boys did for Keith definitely changed him and his family's lives forever. Putting a smile on Keith's face and simply including him to sit with them at lunch was very easy for these boys to do; however, by taking it to the next level and helping him to score a touch down (something he probably never would have been able to do) was so amazing for him to get to experience. It was so sweet and extremely thoughtful of the kids to do. This video really inspired me and i'm sure it inspired anyone else who watched or heard about what these amazing middle schoolers did for Keith.
ReplyDeleteWell i'm speechless after watching this video. The idea of a team being together like a family is truly amazing. Moreover, how each of the members of the team look after each other creates a sense of unity that you wouldn't see at such an extreme point in other football teams. Overall i'm glad that the team sees that the happiness of the entire team is much more important then letting the starting player always win.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a sweet video that is very moving. Especially this day in age, being seen as "popular" and "cool" is very important to a teenager's social life and in many ways to get to that position people often bully others and are rude to others. This video sends a strong message that in order to be "cool" you don't have to be selfish and bully others, but in reality support your friends, or teammates. The reason why this video is so inspiring and powerful is because it displays an unexpected good deed from a group of middle school boys that shows them helping and supporting a special needs kid, Keith, who wouldn't normally be the one to score a touchdown. Also, the fact that this simple plan had the ability to change the view of even one player, Justice Miller, is amazing. A kid who went from being selfish and only caring about himself and his friends now has a goal of making everyone around him happy; this proves how powerful this message really is.
ReplyDeleteWe live in a world plagued with negativity. Almost every news report or article is about how bad the world is. It is these stories that give me a little hope that the world isn't as bad as everyone seems to think it is. In short, this video is heartwarming and refreshing.
ReplyDeleteThis video is powerful because it portrays a very meaningful message. This message showed that thinking about others can make a big difference in someone’s life. Despite Keith’s disabilities, the middle school boys worked together to reach out to Keith to make him feel special and important. This simple act of caring about others made not only Keith happy, but also everyone watching because it proved that a football team doesn’t have to be a sport full of cool and selfish people, but actually a sport filled with people that are willing to do something great for someone else, Keith in particular, who wouldn’t have been able to score a touch down without their help. Therefore, the impact the middle scholars had on Keith, his parents, and everyone else is what makes this powerful.
ReplyDeleteOverall, I am amazed at the middle school football team who came together and decided to not think about themselves or winning, but to come together and make someone's else day. The power and effect the team created by coming together to make a plan for Keith to score a touch down is really impressive and moving because even though it was a simple plan it changed Keith's life for all the better.
ReplyDeleteI thought this video was very powerful and personally it made me think about how I act on a daily basis. The power that small things have to make people's day is incredible and I am guilty of not always thinking about people first, when I don't say hi to someone in the halls or when I don't help someone with their homework because I don't want to. I should always go out of my way to make people happy with the small things. It is great that these boys are only in middle school and they recognized this and made Keith's day, and not only for Keith because he faces many challenges, but I think it changed their mentality for how they treat people in general.

Sometimes the competitive nature of sports can really make one lose focus on whats important. Not only did they allow him to score a touchdown, the kids really accepted him and even extended that friendly courtesy outside of football.

Football is an aggressive sport, which motivates people to become stronger, faster, and better skilled to be able to play with others who may be better than them. The child does not have that opportunity and the team gives it to him.
ReplyDeleteThis video was so powerful because typically, in today's society, this sort of situation doesn't occur. The weaker, lesser person, in sports, does not usually get a chance to do something big in an athletic event, but the kids on this football team gave him an equal chance. Not only did they make the kid's day, but they also made their own day because being a kind, good person can really have a great, positive effect on people's lives. This video honestly makes me think about how I treat people and how I could treat certain people better than I do. It taught me a valuable lesson.

Being an athlete and seeing how competitive sports are, especially football, I thought it was really refreshing to see young adults thinking about something other than the glory they themselves will get and thinking more about how that one big moment may really make someones life 10x better. I think it sent a powerful message that there is more to life than just yourself, and that taking time to take others into your consideration can have a huge impact.

They were happy with the feeling they had from helping others rather than from the glory of winning. It probably meant the world to Keith, which was worth much more than a football game. It's really sweet of the kids to include him at lunch and help him feel like an important part of the football team.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that the football team put this boy before winning the game shows immense maturity coming from the football team. The kid who scored in the play was so happy and so were the football players. They got a sense of joy because they did something for someone else.
ReplyDeleteThe heartwarming decision to allow Keith to be the star of the football team for even a second is extremely power considering todays society and the treatment someone like Keith can endure just because he is a little different. Football teams and players are usually seen as tough guys and the fact that they would secretly plan to allow Keith to be the star of their game shows how thoughtful they are and allows people to rethink the poor treatment given to people who aren't perfect. The team set a valuable example for other teens and even adults to take into consideration when not treating someone nicely for being different.

Sometimes you don't appreciate what you have, while others would love to just a tiny bit of it. In that way, I thought it was unbelievable that the team came together and really made a great moment for Keith.

Not only did the idea behind the whole thing originate from a young boy on team, it exhibited the true understanding that some boys have for their fellow peers. This is an insanely powerful message as well, that all it takes is a little support and you can feel amazing. The fact that the kids on this football team, who even admit that they do not usually put other people before themselves, planned an entire game around getting one, very special boy a touchdown, is unbelievable.

ReplyDeleteThis video is powerful because it demonstrates what people, of any kind, are capable of. Generally, people with learning disabilities, or disabilities in general, do often face difficulties with inclusion etc. The events of the video, however, show that this does not always have to be the case. That a group of people (especially football players. I mean, we all know the "jock" stereotype) would take time out of there lives and potentially be giving themselves a disadvantage at something they are passionate about, football, shows the good and the kindness in humanity.

Being able to play football is something most kids want to do, and the fact that all the kids on the football team who were probably the more popular kids let in somebody who is not on the team is amazing. Not only did they let him join the team but they got it so that they fell down at the one yard line and got this kid in and him able to score a touchdown. Now while it might seem like scoring a touchdown is the best part, the best part is that all the kids feel changed for what they did and also now this boy who would be considered different has friends, a place to sit and lunch and can feel like he fits in with everyone else.

For the whole football team to collectively decide not to score any points and therefore take the spotlight away from them and shift it to one kid to help make his day proves that there are a lot of good people left in the world. The fact that one football player cried on camera as he described his personality shift is one of the most powerful parts of the video because it demonstrates that people can still change for the better.

It was so touching to see the team have Keith's back, even in the last play the team protected Keith as he scored a touchdown. I am genuinely touched at the selflessness of the football team and I'm sure this will be a moment Keith will remember for the rest of his life.

In today's society, people are so engulfed by trivialities, like being the most popular person or making sure that their post on Facebook gets the most likes that they have lost sight of the things in life that really matter, love, affection, kindness. Instead of merely being passive bystanders, people need to act and positively contribute to the world, just as these football played did. People need to open their eyes to all the suffering around them and make a change for the better. People need to realize that if they decide to do nothing and decide to not take action, then the miasmic fog of minutia will consume society as we know it.

There is a preconceived notion that all jocks are jerks, so not only was it heartwarming that anyone did that, but it was even better, because of the group of people it came from, especially with professional football players,like Richie Incognito, still bullying others.
ReplyDeleteThis made me so happy! It was really nice to see people care for someone so much and go out of their way or take a little bit of their success away so Keith could score. In the beginning when Keith was hugging everyone, although it was due to a disability, I think it really showed how kind and sweet he is. It was really powerful to see the wide receiver admit that it wasn’t his idea and how he used to be self absorbed, because something so small in someone’s eyes like making a touchdown, for Keith was something he will remember forever. Even though it wasn’t that kids idea, it still changed him positively. Not only did they make him happy, but also this plan will now encourage other kids around the world to change their perception of what it is to be “cool” especially when on sports team. Therefore, their plan was so powerful because it shows other kids how little it takes to truly make someone happy. Therefore, rather than being selfish, this video taught me that even though we do not realize this, the little things we do for others can be so meaningful and powerful.

Being a player on football team is something many can only dream of, and by letting a kid like Keith be apart of that group, let alone score, was incredibly sweet of the football players. Plus, the fact that the team came up with the idea themselves was beautiful. After that touchdown Keith's life changed for the better, and this wouldn't have happened without the commitment of thoughtful middle school football team. My favorite part in the video is when the wide receiver admits that he may not have every thought of the plan, but was proud to be apart of something that made everyone's day. I thought that this scene showed his transformation and growth and I ,personally, just thought it was beautiful. The fact that the team is still in middle school shows their sense maturity and selflessness that many people lack. In conclusion, the video made me really happy and truthfully made my day.

The team’s play is extremely powerful and meaningful for me because it stands out against the theme of bullying on the media right now. There is so much hype and focus on bullying across the Internet, and news right now, but this video shows the good in people. This act is so hear warming, especially because these boys are doing it at such an age.

It portrays the caring attributes present in the group of kids on the football team who chose to use up their free time to help the spirits of others in the community. The video doesn't only give Keith an experience he ill never forget, but it also teaches a lesson that taking the smallest time out of your day to help someone else, even though it can be so minimal toward your feelings, can truly mean a lot to someone else.
ReplyDeleteI thought the video was very touching considering that my cousin has a mental disability and he won homecoming king. So, to see the football team deliver such a brave and selfless act in a conceited sport was heartwarming. I believe that a simple polite acknowledgment of some else's presence will automatically make their day. Just to see the dedicated mission to make Keith feel apart of the team was absolutely breath-taking, in knowing that people can care for people.

It was really moving how the kids on the team purposely messed up to give Kieth a chance to shine on the field whereas most kids would just focus on winning the game and exclude the disabled kid from the amazing feeling of helping your team out on the field.
ReplyDeleteThe video actually just made me cry. Its so amazing to see how one simple action can take such a huge toll and impact everyone around him. The kids took up their lunch time to carefully plan for Keith to have his big moment in the sun. A lonely boy was is nice to everyone finally got what he deserved. Its very sweet how the boys protected him on the field. They all circled around him and guarded him like he was their little brother. That was the most inspirational part. I think this video brings out emotional side in people and is moving for everyone. Seeing that boy cry at the end means that he actually cares so much about Keith and you could see the positive effect it had on him. I think these boys were so brave to do this and it definitely made my day.
ReplyDeleteInertia. It is easy for one to stay comfortable in an environment in which one resides. Yes, it is easy to eat lunch with the same people every day, and yes, it is easy to fake a smile when somebody with which one is not comfortable insists on extending his/her conversation, and yes, it is easy to watch an inspirational video and feel empowered to change the world; however, actually acting on these empowered feelings is not very easy. This video is an example of what it truly means to overcome inertia: these middle school football players understand that complacency is unacceptable. What is truly inspirational about this video is not only the football players' ability to break the stereotype that "uncool" people should only associate themselves with like individuals, but also the ability to break the stereotype that "cool" people are arrogant and only associate themselves with other "cool" people. These middle schoolers' ability to transgress social stereotypes is a concept more mature than one would expect from boys ages 11 to 14. But, as the world surprises us in a different way each day, these middle school football players really showed the world--through their viral video--that change really does happen one step at a time, and that each step is one step closer to success.
ReplyDeleteThe video shows how kind people can be despite common misconceptions. Although middle school football players are not given credit as the most selfless people, this team made a sacrifice that had the ability to make Keith so happy. They included him when they ate lunch together and they helped him score a touchdown as a team. The team, being more concerned with Keith's happiness than their own, also made his parents extremely happy that their son was included.
